Miter Folding
Miterfolding is a manufacturing process that takes a laminate that has been flat laminated to MDF (medium density fiberboard) or particle board and processed on a CNC or V-groove machine to create “grooves” that allow the part to be folded. This process allows the furnishing or fixtures to be fabricated without unsightly brown lines, eliminating exposed edges and seams while enabling acquisition cost savings up to 30% on a fully manufactured part when compared to manufacturing using traditional High Pressure Laminate (HPL).
OMNOVA products which have been engineered for miterfolding include our 2D Laminates, (standard) 3D Laminates, surf(x) Miterfoldable Laminates and the industry-leading surf(x) 3D Laminates.
- Enhances aesthetics by eliminating unsightly brown lines and exposed edges
- No exposed edges means fewer chips, cracks and peeling resulting in lower maintenance costs
- Up to 30% lower total applied cost of furnishings and fixtures
